Disabled and Pram Access

The Monorail and Light Rail are easily accessible to the aged, families with prams and people with a disability.

Monorail
All the Monorail stations have lift access and the Light Rail stations have either ramp or lift access. It is very easy to get both on an off the Monorail with flat platform access and the comfortable cabins provide access for prams and wheelchairs.

It is important to be aware that at busy times such as school holidays the vehicles may be very full. However, Monorails depart every 3 minutes so there should be another less crowded vehicle departing within minutes.

Light Rail
All the Light Rail stations have either ramp or lift access. The Light Rail is also easy to get on and off from the platform and on board the vehicle you will find plenty of room for a wheelchair or pram.

Lilyfield
It is important to note that there is only one lift at Lilyfield Station. On the rare occasion that this lift is out of service for a short period, the station will not be wheelchair accessible at this time. Of course Metro Light Rail will ensure that the lift is repaired as quickly as possible.

If you are making a long or difficult journey to get to the Lilyfield Station to catch the Light Rail, it may be worth calling the contact number listed below to ensure that the lift is in service.

Announcements will be made on the vehicles at the previous stop if they lift is out of service to avoid any difficulties on arrival at Lilyfield Station.

Glebe
Glebe Station is easily accessible and pram and wheelchair friendly however, there is a steep incline up to Glebe Point Road from this station which may be difficult for some. It may be easier to access Glebe Point Road from Jubilee Park Station.

Travel for the Visually Impaired

Visually impaired passengers who carry a CityRail Vision Impaired Persons Permit are permitted to travel free. Accompanying attendants must purchase a concession fare for the relevant journey.

Metro Transport will allow customers to board with a seeing-eye dog at all times. There are no restrictions for these animals.

Travelling with animals

Metro Transport will allow customers to board with a seeing-eye dog, a dog for the hearing impaired or an authorised disabled person's companion animal at all times. There are no restrictions for these animals.

Conductors will use their discretion in allowing a customer to board with a dog, cat, bird or other animal considering other passengers, travel time, whether the animal is restrained and animal cleanliness. Passengers with companion animals are asked to be considerate of staff concerns and to respect the right to refuse entry at certain times or in certain situations.

Bicycles

Metro Light Rail does not charge for the carriage of bicycles and we welcome cyclists to use our services. During the periods when trams are crowded we may have to restrict the number of bicycles carried on each tram.
